So if your system had been set up using lithium’s that each have their own onboard BMS’s, would that have solved the issue? If one were to fail you could just take that cell out of the system, no? Or, conversely, if the inverter charger would have been off when you turned the BMS back on, could this have helped as there would not have been that on rush of current initially. Just curious…lithium upgrade in the future for us…

Sounds like a short. So turn off all of the breakers, then start turning them back on until it happens again and find the short.
