The Navionics ap on your phone or ipad should let you bring up a satellite layer and will lay a snail trail and gives you a heading on its cursor so it would be better to navigate with than Google Earth if the charting is not up to scratch.

My sincere condolences to you both on the loss of your friend. Praying for you both as you work through the grieving process but also just not being able to go and be with your friend and his family and your friends that you shared between you. What a beautiful tribute to your friend, who had for whatever reason lost Hope. I am really sorry for your loss guys... it was always difficult to express my emotions in this situations and even though I'm not part of your life literally, i do have been part of your journey for a while now through here, and i send you love and blessings every time. So, to serve my contribute, as a form of comfort, i am writing with that intention - death is meant to be as beautiful as it is living, when naturally given or taken, and it really leaves me in tears, as i am now writing this to you, and as part of the human race and every living being, to know that there are other soul mates living in such an unbearable pain , that get to this stage, Where nothing is worth living for anymore. I am sorry.
To raise awareness for your friend, and every others going through this, I am going to keep sending and giving so much love and be kind even in my worst "no" days, by feeling and finding gratitude in every little detail of my life.
I have been there too, almost. I give Thanks to the impermanence of life.
