Our Rival 38 deep bilge was over 1m deep under a glassed in oil drip tray. It was disgusting.
As part of prep for our electric motor we cut out the tray (the ply underside was unprotected and oil soaked).
As there is concern that the keel under and around our deep bilge is weak we are going to partially fill with expanding epoxy foam locked in with a treated plywood frame. Then a glassed in bilge top with sump for pumps that can be reached at full stretch.
So even if crushed aft end of keel in a grounding we shouldn't lose the epoxy foam core and shouldn't leak.
