Outboarders require a disproportionate amount of time for service and repair. Storing and handling gasoline is not contemporary for a sailboat. I will switch to an electric solution in the near future.

Had similar issues with our dinghy outboard, was going to do a rebuild on the carby. Rebuilt kit was more than a carby off Aliexpress!! It was under $60 delivered. Had to wait a while, no biggy.
Put it on and shazam, started straight up, very very minor tune. Starts with one light pull now. That was nearly a year ago.
Fun boat times.

Great job with the netting. Yeh something within the gearbox of our 15hp Suzuki crapped itself the day before we were due to leave Hervey Bay for lady Musgrave! Lucky we kept the trusty 8 hp Yamaha for a spare so it didn’t wreck our plans.
I have a mercury back in Perth that I’ve nicknamed the anchor . Neither myself or an outboard mechanic had any luck with it! If it keeps giving you grief feel free to use that nickname .
