You can also buy multi strip disc for an angle grinder that won’t damage the fibreglass, they strip glue, paint, graffiti etc

Solving engineering challenges brilliantly as always. Here’s a cheat option you probably already considered and threw out… you can get 90 degree converters for some drills – uses a bit more energy in the gears, makes a little more noise… but now you can hold the drill real good.

The pipe looked like a ridged pipe which will cause the air to whistle over the top of the ridges inside the pipe. Hence the horrific noise.
