But of course, that’s not realistic, they don’t get to claim the ocean. I think this is a fantastic opportunity for humans to communicate with another intelligent species and figure out what their beef is. We know that orcas and humans coexist in other parts of the world and orcas swim right up to their divers or kayakers without harming them. So why are these orcas damaging the boats? Maybe they are fed up with human overfishing. Or maybe some other fishermen did something wrong to them but no one else knows it.

My point is, definitely let us not overreact to this by harming the orcas and instead understand their gripe. Obviously we can’t talk to them but perhaps we can monitor them with research vessels and drones to actually see what they go through in their life that might make them angry at humans.
