I'd guess that a automotive Ceramic or Graphene coating on the solar panels would aid in keeping the dirt from building up and rinse off quickly.

When you described the injury I cringed. Soft tissue injuries are pernicious and slow to heal. Be sure not to push it and give it enough time to properly heal up. If you stress the ligaments too soon reinjury is almost guaranteed and you won't be looking at weeks convalescents but months
