In onshore/cross-on: given that it can be a +/- 10-knot wind range and small waves, i.e., not mast-high swell, as in Cloudbreak, go for 15L+ over body mass with a proper modern onshore-designed wave board. You will be able to catch more waves. I used to sail sinkers out of pride – really great 2-3 times a year, but very frustrating trying to get planing and to stay upwind. Modern boards really turn, even they are big. Four fins, no question.

West Wittering is a bit difficult because it is cross-on, but idiot-proof. All sand and not crowded; no shore dump. On a good day it delivers 5-turn plus rides. Is excellent port tack if easterly at low tide. Jolliffe Road is awesome at low tide. Superb training for real-world onshore (not to mention super fun!).

Nice podcast.
I like my footstraps like freestylers do. Ben how do you do your footstraps?
And what i also notice is that havier guys ride with 5 batten sails. And down the line sailing sometime you see 3 batten sails. Ben what is your opion about that?
And what is also see is that alot of guys put their float and ride board away and go winging in the waves.
