Same thing happened to us. Old bronze shaft spinning in the transmission coupling. Our only real problem was lack of wind, resulting in coming on to the mooring on a moonless midnight at about .001 knots. Thinking the prop isn't quite aligned with the coupling, which can wear out the sketchy connection between shaft and transmission. Maybe our boat's more weatherly, but it points into the wind in most conditions if mainsail even partially up and one lets go of the tiller. I guess that one doesn't.
