Everything costs something now, especially if you want something different to do, then the normal run of the mill things you usually do.
Try a Van Festival. More pricey but a great entertainment.

You should've gone to the Blues Bar , it's a bit small , but they always have live music on and guest ales. Then again you're spoilt for choice as far as bars and restaurants are concerned in Harrogate.I've booked tickets to go back for some nostalgia and to see me Dad, in early September.
