You are right implementing tick manipulation as an "official game mechanic" would both ruin it's appeal to players who like using it and be a headache to player who don't like that playstyle

so far the tick manipulation that is in the game is very fun and well balanced, even the new forestry update has tick manipulation and that also seams to be working good. sailing might be able to escape it for example thieving, pyramid plunder has no tick manipulation but its the best method and there is some ways to speed up xp by walking manually in some situations but nothing crazy. Sailing could be similar.

I don't understand. Tick Manipulation is a method discovered by players that pushed the boundaries of skill training and is widely used by a large portion of the most dedicated playerbase today. Isn't Tick Manipulation emergent gameplay?

I do not think they should add tick manipulation on purpose but I do not think they should remove it. The most enjoyment I get from skilling is tick manipulation sitting and just focusing on doing 1.5 ticking teaks for 2 hours is some of the most enjoyment I've ever gotten from any game.
