  1. Do you have the internal layout of your boat finalised or is this still something to be done? It would be nice to see a plan if you have one.
If a plan does not exist it may be interesting to hold a “design the interior “ competition, you may pick up idea’s you had not thought of. Just a thought.

  2. Just wonderful seeing the bow part of the hull get closed off, dowelled, and sanded. Love the total look of the bow. Looking forward to the next step. See you next time.✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨

  3. Amazing how much you have accomplished already. Such a huge job and you are killing it. True Vikings. This boat build is exciting. It’s your boat, but all of us sitting at home watching your hard work are kinda invested in this project. Cheers

  4. We fully understand Vera's sighs, due to her hard work in the decoration department (15:33) 🎨 🥰
… and her dad's work is also really impressive. 👌
… and let's not forget mom's edition job either. 🙂👋

  5. Great achievement indeed! It is very rewarding to see the fruit of your tenacious hard work at this stage of completion. Kudos!!

  6. Looking amazing, what an achievement. I got quite emotional watching this video. Beautiful craftsmanship Ewan. So darn proud of you mate. ⛵🌏📸⚓👙🩱🩳⛱🎣🤿🐡🦈🐟🐠🐚💧🐬☀️🇦🇺

  7. Seeing the stem to hull transition in detail really gives me a sense of what the boat is, the lines from here flow to determine the boat. Where the stem transitions to the undersection, do you plan on adding reinforecement, special material firstly as added protection to the timber but also a general wear indicator. This week I painted antifouling on my own boat, a similar plumb bow, immediately transitioning into flat sections aft (there's no V towards a keel as the boat has foils only, nothing on the centre line). RAN III also has a very exposed and focused bow at the waterline, will you build multiple additional defences? This is an area where there the first contact with debris in the water, these vary on type, from fishing bouys, overriding anchor line, timber and flotstam.
I think RAN III will be a fast hull, this long flat hull shape, with a little rocker, reminds of J boat designs, where optimal shape for speed is chosen, but less of the extreme beam after like Pogo, JPK race boats. The hull design theory hasn't been explained yet in terms of modern concepts, perhaps the architect can eloborate at some point in the context of other designs? Sure the interior layout is vital to liveability, but sailability, ability to sail reliably and comfortably on autopilot in substantial seas is a prize issue too. One of the many compromises. Hours of hand steering V sleep and rest, no competition, that's a critical crew safety issue. What boats are you benchmarking against ITO handling, etc?

  8. Once you turn the boat over and get it back in the barn and the whole boat lower to facilitate adding the deck house as you indicated, it's going to be difficult to fiberglass the bottom keel area. Do you intend to apply the fiberglass to a portion of the bottom keel area while still in the barn or when it's outside before the boat is turned?

  9. Johna, love the progress. Your boat is beautiful. Your a great teacher. Best for your family. When you get the boat out of the barn then Vera will have a studio to end all studios.

  10. What happened to the idea of using a heavier wood below waterline? Anyway, she's already starting to look like a boat, ain't she? 😄 Thanks for sharing.

  11. that hull is beautiful and would love to see it just glassed in with no paint but if not i would think it would be faster easier and stronger if you had laid sheet plys instead.
