Hello from the Netherlands, I have followed you from the beginning and think you should be proud the way you live your lives and are giving Talula a youth she will cherish for ever.
Question: when sailing straight for the wind, do you use a line from the end of the boom to a cleet far aft on the boat, I can’t find the translation from the Dutch BULLETALIE to English, but it is to prevent a gibe (I think it is called a gibe?).
My biggest mistake ever was an involuntary gibe with threemast schooner Eendracht of 60 meters length while carrying 1000 m2 sail. I didn’t pay attention to the helmsman who by mistake turned the helm the wrong way. It takes a while before the 600 Ton ship reacts but…….. then you are screwed . Luckily no fysical damage due to our Bulletalie’s, but some damage to my ego . I must say it is a way to get a lot of crew on deck in 2 minutes, and a huge learning moment.
