In regards to your anchor chain…..that's exactly how not to handle the situation. You approached your new neighbors with an accusatory attitude. Have you ever been accused of something you haven't done? The way I would have done it is by checking the chain on my own to ensure that it was in place, and it was. Your attitude was snooty and touching on narcissistic. Show some empathy and consider how others may feel before blabbing away. Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

I loved your line “ Uncontrolled variables”.
Having done a few years in the Med you realise a few things.
Charterers can just be very inexperienced with mooring, but try to get it right or just don’t care if the yacht gets bashed around. Obviously as a liveaboards who have put your heart and soul into your boat you do care.
I always prefer to anchor off and usually am the furthest out, but that’s ok.. I slept better.

Your boat isn’t just a boat it’s your livelihood, only mode of transport, your home and a safe space for your daughter so don’t be so hard on yourself when you’re more anxious than most! Ignorance is bliss and because you’re so knowledgeable you notice danger and risks many won’t consider.

You can expect the eastside of Greece north of the island of Euboea and the Sporades to be way less frequented by charter boats as well as boats in general the more north you cruise.

I get it I used to have a truck that had a couple major breakdowns. I had the money to make the repairs, but it cleaned me out. After that I would get so anxious when I would drive that truck it almost made me ill. So I started riding my motorcycle to commute and that was a whole other level of anxiety. I was nearly run off the interstate by people merging into my lane. Wind turbulence from semi's passing, especially car haulers. I would be so jacked up from nerves…..anyway….
Your boat is your transportation and your family's home. So not being able to control other people and the potential for extreme damages to happen to your boat because of other people is definitely whats causing your anxiety.

As soon as I became a parent, I had all kinds of anxiety problems. This new responsibility can be overwhelming.. but you get through it.
The only real medical solution is SSRI antidepressents. Saved my life. People who have not suffered with anxiety and have not experienced the severity of the symptoms, won't understand.
