I'd be inclined to box in those wooden engine stand legs by screwing some planks across them top and bottom so they can't separate easily. Just a few minute's work.

Quick follow-up on my previous: I've seen inboard engines after long term raw (salt) water cooling and they can be a nightmare – junk only. Not just mineral deposits, but salt corrosion as well. It do make a mess of things.
