We were stuck in Falmouth trying to get to Cork, with the goal of heading up the west coast. Eventually we gave up and headed up the Irish Sea to Scotland, which was much nicer!

Had no idea GPS works like that, I thought it was like the Doppler effect, pretty much as Gaynor was going to explain it,
Which actually confuses me, (although I’m easily confused ) my old school GPS hand held 33.. we had a possible 27 satellites, all US military from memory, but we needed at least 3 to get a “good” reading.. and I assumed it was some triangulation effect, which is kinda stupid now i think about it, would need 3 points to measure in 3D space, but that’s not what you need, you only really 2D to measure distances/locations.. so cheers for that “food for thought”

Skull/Schull is worth a look as it is in the lee of hills to the west and Mt Gabriel to the North. Holding ground uncertain but sufficient north to south distance in the bay to escape Atlantic swells. Refuge from southerlies less certain. Maybe you have been there as I have not seen Eps. 1-310 yet. Union Hall remains my preferred in those parts.
