Get the Tohatsu 20hp instead. Same weight, better fuel efficiency. Lots of boats with the Yamaha 9.9s are upgrading to those.

I would look at the Tohatsu engines as well. They are apparently reliable and should cost less.

Do yourself a favour and save up for new engines the Yamaha 9.9 is bulet proof. I had one centre mounted on my cat a 9meter GBE for 15 years and it never let me down once. Run them with a quality water trap and fuel filter system and you'll have no problems. Enjoyed see your mum and dad keep up the good work.

9.9 is very good – i used one on my Iroquois' and it was great except for the carb getting clogged with bad gas.
