I am sorry but just how stupid our these people that make millions and then go “you know what I’ll save 100,000.00 by NOT having the surveys. Yeah She floats… That’s good enough for me!” How do you know if you do not ask. Forget the legals and non legals of the situation, Unless you know and are around boats from infancy then how do you know things are meant to sound or feel or look like that. God I’d probably have sniffer dogs paid to make sure that the yacht wasn’t used to import drugs or something like that. After all if this were the case in some Western Countries you can have these assets seized, and, that would be the last straw spending 40Million and then have nothing to show for it… Stupid People!

Surveys are a funny thing. They can help you find problems, agreed. They are non binding. If a surveyor misses something or gives the wrong information there is no punitive action you can take on them. Yachts are certainly vessels that should be surveyed and they are often required by insurance companies.
