Did you find the missing fins from the impellor? If not they are in the engine cooling system. it can be reverse blown out after the lower unit is removed again. They restrict water flow if left in cooling system.

have extra impellor kits on hand. Most Sailors can help you do it yourself. I also change gear oil and engine oil if 4 stroke after impellor since it got hot and most likely did oil damage.

I'm sure there will be a next time with the engine, the good thing about your own YT, is you have the footage to do it. Well done with the head. What a fantastic video! I loved it John and Ellie! I think I understand why boat manufacturers tend to use so much plastic when plumbing to keep the boat weight down but must they use it on the toilets? Toilets are critical and are probably the most used item on the boat and plastic parts are not practical for longevity! I loved your sense of humor John prepping to go in for the “surgical” fix. Lol Sorry the dingy engine had a hic-up but that looks easy enough for you to fix in the future. Always keep spare parts. Amazing how beautiful the water in the Mediterranean is with its blue, crystal clear reflection. You both look wonderful and so happy. Stay safe my friends.

Good mechanics. Good lessons. Critical to learning how to do something is often just seeing someone who knows doing it (on the outboard and the head). I think we learn so much just by watching how someone who knows simply moves.

I'm sure you might know this but if you have a problem with the smell put a dust mask on and a dollop of vicks vapor rub on the outside and Bobs your Uncle no sewage smell in your nose!

Hi my friends, Now if I was there I could have fixed the little Honda for Free, being a mechanic does come in handy please buy some more impeller for next time ok. Actually just get the whole kit, gaskets, impeller, lube, seals, oil and spark plug . Great episode, good job on the Dunny John think of u both often xx like the new intro too

Hi Guys …… Great episode and great synopsis on the cruising lifestyle …… My 2 cents …. make sure you do not fit Jabsco heads on your Portofino …They are built to a price for the production boat market ….. like all their kit!!! … I can highly recommend the Raritan Marine elegance heads ….. four years later with three heads and not one issue! You can program the length of the flush cycle on these heads so that your novice guests flush the heads correctly!! …….. Weird about the salami clip!
