This is not an eco-friendly project. How much carbon do you think will go into the atmosphere for building this? What will you do with all the waste from desalination. Nothing about any luxury destination is ever eco-friendly. Eco-friendly and Luxury (and extravagance) are just not compatible concepts. The whole thing is going to turn out like a lot of other dictator dick waving projects and fail anyway so the environmental impacts will be somewhat mitigated. You can only start something this stupid and wasteful in authoritarian countries where the ruler's intelligence is inversely related to ego. Maybe if one man's ego and all his ass kissing sycophants werent driving this, the money could be spent on infrastructure to cope with inevitable climate change or education or the hidden poor or developing technology industry or biomedical research or environmental research or pretty much any damn thing besides the fantasies of a violent egomaniac.
