To my car engine experience, that screeching sound you had on way into port sounded remarkably like the alternator bearings, or possibly water pump bearings, definitely something driven off the main belt. Could be wrong, just sounds similar.

I would securely tie the boat off at the dock, run the engine and put the engine in gear and watch and listen. This is normal practice but you have to insure you are securely tied off in reverse and forward. Then sit and wait.

If you don't mind a bit of advice (anytime one is trying to slip a hose over a seacock end) – don't use a lubricant if the end is below the waterline! Even if well clamped, there is a chance of the hose slipping back off if it is bent into shape and there is any pressure pulling it outwards or sideways. Heat the end of the hose in boiling water to soften it – or use a heat gun if you have 120 volt power available. A little saliva spread around the inside of the heated hose just before you install it usually helps too. At least, that is what they taught us in boatbuilding school 40 years ago! I hope the transmission linkage solves the squeaky problem and best of luck on your continuing voyage.

I watch a few of the sailing videos. You guys do a great job. We gotta get your subscribers up. Target 500k. Some that are at that level aren’t as “real” as your channel. Keep it up and good things will happen.
