May have already been addressed in other comments but I do a lot of work on fiberglass boats and those cracks you see look like stress cracks or perhaps failure of the gelcoat. Gelcoat doesn’t last forever and UV light can really decrease it’s flexibility. Thus it starts to crack under any pressure or bending (even with thermal expansion/ contraction). If you aren’t seeing failures in the fiberglass, you are good replacing the gelcoat with something like TotalBoat fairing compound or on a larger area, an epoxy barrier coat. The only way to fix it completely as far as I know is a complete sand off of the gelcoat and apply a new gelcoat layer. It’s not as much fun as it sounds, though. But again, grinding the worst cracks down and applying fairing compound or an epoxy barrier coat will be a good fix to get you a lot of nautical miles behind you. Keep at it! Love seeing the progress in this great boat.

That's some hard bloody going right there. Once you hit the zone though it's not so bad in the thick of it. it's the making yourself start again and put all the gear on the next day, that's how it is for me anyway.

To get a better look at the depth of cracks, wipe the area with acetone. If you've not reached the bottom of the crack, it will show clearly. Generally, if you have cracks in gelcoat 90% of the time they go down in the laminate and you want grind out to the bottom of the crack or it will reappear. If the paint was in good shape there really was no need to take it all off all over, so long as the chalk was off and the entire surface was roughened for primer. Are you going to roll and tip? You can actually roll and tip Awlgrip, but at Marina Tropical in the variable sun, heat and humidity it's going to be really tough to get the thinning right. Isaac has a guy who sprays and does a decent job. While it's expensive, the finish will last 10x as long as you doing it yourself.
