Having travelled the world, I always carried a pair of broken in, waterproof, trail hiking shoes. One time, after the taxis stopping running early, I had to walk just over ten miles to get to my hotel. Ugh! Thankfully, I'd bought a suitcase with wheels about six months earlier.
