Friend of mine bought a Tohatsu after extensive research, ages ago. And we couldn't start it. After an hour I took a break and just thought about it, then I told him to get out of the way, and I started it right up.
Yohatsu was new to the US at the time, and the instruction manual had the choke position backwards. That's the only problem he ever had with it.
You might want to get a new spare impeller and shaft seal. Fishing line can cut the seal, and the impeller needs to be changed yearly. Both will be out of stock when you do need them.
