We have spent a year on our Catana 47 in Thailand, Langkawi and the top of Sumatra at Sabang. We will probably do the Malaysia sailing Rally to the east starting next year April, this takes you all the way to Borneo etc which apparently is the most spectacular parts of Malaysia. From there we need to head to Raja Ampat for the best diving in the world. “ Expedition drenched “ is also heading out there. There boat is currently in the marina with us at Langkawi. Don’t leave this region before seeing the best of it ! The med is boring !!! No life in the sea which is great shame.

You two might want to check out Palawan in the Philippines. It's not overpopulated yet, and many people in the Philippines can speak English.
