At the risk on bringing up bad memories… how do you think an Al vessel would of handled your lightning strikes and unfortunate incident in the Kimberleys?
Great video, glad people are out there like yourself looking behind the curtain of boat builders. Like most things though the devil is in the details and the right answer for what’s best is “it depends”. Every one is going to place priorities in different spots as all boats are just a series of compromises. (Unless you remove budget from the equation lol)
Each of the higher end boats you mentioned (Gunboat/HH//Balance/ORC/etc) are all custom builds but the advertised LIghtship displacement includes a ton of equipment that others do not. So although your numbers on the Odesea are phenomenal, the actual livability isn’t apples to apples. If the other boats were built bare bones their numbers would look a bit different.
But in general the premise of what you are communicating is spot on and I give you two thumbs up! Just any potential buyers out there, make sure you dig into the details 👍🏻👍🏻

Great info
An engineer and lover of sail. Good!
What the helll Plucky? I love your channel because u show us how to do it without a shitton of $$$. And the girls. I'd be willing to bet I am your typical subscriber. White, American, single, male. With dreams of hitting the water to live like u. And honestly, your content lately interest me none. Please believe im not trolling. I like u bro. Alot. I am currently living in my new to me sailboat that your videos inspired me to change everything in my life and get. Iv watched u bust ass, work, suffer, and struggle to get where u are now. I am happy for u and know uv earned it. But don't forget WHY we watch. GIRLS GIRLS & GIRLS. Now I'm a subscriber for life. But I fear if there are many more girl less episodes. Your channel will suffer. & nobody wants that.
Thanks for the detailed info on the various boats Plukky 😊
Like it when Plucky geeks out a bit exuding confidence! Well done & informative! Now where to get the additional $2.5M
Thanks for the facts n formula's you make a good teacher great stuff aluminum is the strongest. Jeff the Navy vet
Wish I was in the market for a cat…… Best I can do is live vicariously through you 😂🤗💞
Nothing but Quality Fun,Adventure,Education, People , No Drama wow Peter well I think we are on to something really big here ! Thank you !
Hey Plucky. When you gonna start interviewing new crew for the challenge?
Great video full of referral able quality information. Would it be a good idea to throw in an imaginary aluminum performance cat comparison boat with similar dimensions to those you like ?
Great work Peter.
Yet another very good and useful video. So thankful for you sharing your wisdom. Keep it up and I wish you all the best!!!
Looks like I'll be buying ×2 mono hulls & tieing them together 😅
peter – all this metal talk and aluminium talk doesn't deal with metal fatigue – from all the vibrations and twising and turning and work hardening vulnerable areas – how does your aluminium hold up / good stuf on engineering detail / as you know when you are welding an area it changes the metal tension and often creates a weak point – i suggest you get your engineers to look into this and develop some options they offer as an added value when people are building a boat to add to the longevity, life span of a boat too – good stuff – peter what happens after the boat hull is built – have you started fundraising and getting sponsors too – hang in there
I think you mentioned 100 % recyclable, even during construction, is about as good as we can hope. We tend to dismiss end of useful life as part of the “formula”. Being a woodworker, it is tough for me to go 100% aluminum. There are plenty of places in any boat for wood craftsmanship.
Plucky, those are huge boats with huge price tags during their useful life. Aren’t there any 40 to 45 ft performance cats that will do what you and most real people want and MAYBE can afford to buy and own?
❓Peter, ❓ Your thoughts; If/when you are caught in a MAJOR STORM; Hurricane, Typhoon or Cyclone w/winds over 100 mph, in a very light CAT, what safeguards would you put in place to prevent a "HULI" (turning upside down… pitch pole)❓ Here, on GUAM, a practice i have used to prevent this on a "TRIMARAN" was to balast the almas with seawater❗ I was Captain of a "CROSS Catamaran", very light, diagonally planked, a "Racing Cat" built in the '60s and while I was in charge She was able to weather all typhoons using this practice. Alas; She was sold and the new owners refused to listen to me when "SUPER TYPHOON PONG SONG WA" happened and picked that Cat up, from a slip, and flipped it on shore where the waves turned it into kindling. ❓Do you ever have any worries like this if/when you are caught in a major storm such as this❓ I am not talking about "outrunning the storm" (we all know you are very good at "squeaking" by the front" … I mean for some unforeseen mishaps where you are CAUGHT and have to ride it out⁉
Like everything else…manufactures/politicians supply, what consumers/citizens demand…now, what's the ratio of informed to ignorant per capita?
Slyder build from aluminum also.
Totally correct Plukky that China is cheaper, unfortunately for us it's only cheaper for them, we don't get to benefit one cent on the deal. They benefit by having cheaper labor, no workers compensation, cheaper rent on facilities and lower energy costs and possibly quite a few others.
I bought my granddaughter a cat 🐱. It’s stuffed! She takes it everywhere, preschool, shopping with her mum, she absolutely loves it
good educational video ,providing information and nurturing inquiry .
one evaluation and prize factor is missing ,as it is unfortunately in most advertisements and comments on boats ,including on boat shows and that is the environment factor !.
Current and future generations will have to pay a high prize for boat builds that use toxic materials and that need more toxic materials for maintenance/repairs .Even , if an environment tax is not introduced on such new boat builds ,conscientious people can at least take a stance and mention a provisional % prize for environment damage of certain boat builds . It is not only external environment that will be damaged ,certain boat building components will be increasingly found in body tissues of humans and other animal species . To avoid awareness of the responsibility of ones personal desires and actions, will damage the conscience of all perpetrators involved in these dynamics . As a minimum ,research/investigation should be actively pursued to find less toxic materials and better recycling policies and technics . For instance ,how to reuse retired boat hulls for water tanks ,tiny homes ,shelters for homeless ,refugees …….. .
Great stuff its going to be awesome
Yep…good one Pluck !!!
Goodonya Plukky! Good Info..! Only commenting for your algorithm 😁🧿🐉🇦🇺🏴☠️
i am Late so everyone has asked all the Questions already 🙂 Sooo what i want to know Plukky is who are the 2 girls in the middle of the program ????? Must say they are better looking than that Ugly Aussie guy u had trying to drum up Business 🙂 Great show mate 🙂
😃👍👍👍❤
Are you biased, Absolutely! I am also biased right along with you. Thanks.
Geez Peter. How many millions? So my 4m tinny with a 15 Yam 2-stroke is likely world leading. Comparatively… +) Love your educated and detailed analysis.
Interesting and thoughtful presentation Peter.
Considering your electric personality Plucky, how will Freedom 2 handle any lightning strike like the one before.
what about FRP?
Well said mate, and good luck with your guest that gave the little plug 😊
Comparer les catamarans existants et les futures créations ? Regardez les résultats de l’ORC (Rallyes pour les Crusiers)
In the same perspective it would be good to understand your take on carbon fiber masts for world-cruisers (Racers probably all opt for carbon).
Excellent. It is good to see you in your element.
Благодарю. Ты мудрый и правильный совет дал. Всем Добра!
Hey Puckly, Grandpa called and he wants his opening and closing music back lol
Way to go Peter. Always knew you are a keeper… just gets better and better 👍🏻👍🏻
Great information
Hi, it is very clear that anyone who value their life and their family life aluminum is the way to go. You don't want to be an appetizer for a great white shark! I'm always surprise that peoples with millions of dollars are willing to risk it with a brittle material as fiberglass and carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is great for racing but hitting a floating container will end your day in a very bad way and I'm not going to talk about E glass. The ultimate would be a titanium hull without questions……but that is another story.
Thanks, Plukky, very informative.
Impressive work you have done, I have gained way more respect for you since you started this project, you are definitely smarter than you look, maybe just maybe they will include a comb or a brush, or even a hair cut… lol
Always enjoy the expertise and the delivery. Always manage to find nice ladies too.
Facts don't matter , just ask Joe Biden .
👍
just because you are building an aluminium boat the rest of the world is stupid 👎
Love it, Love it, love it!! A lot of great info there Peter
