For your next Q&A: which boats are registered? If you have a dinghy with a sail, is it regiestered? Is it only large yachts which are registered and where are the registers kept?

I'm not being deprecating. This is an actual question. So, UN members can move around DC / LA / NYC with sub-machine guns and police escorts? AirForce I & II as well as State aircraft have anti-missle-defenses. So, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, how do their ambassadors not have similar weaponry as that within the "Five Eyes"? You think others do not have this? It it known as a diplomatic pouch and total / qualified immunity. You think billionaires do not have qualified immunity? Okay…
Honest question…Totally get the gun cabinet thing…totally understand your armored / ballistic vehicle comments…I ASOLUTELY LOVE AMERICA AND THE UK. But, to think we're the only one with international defenses is just "silly"

I'm sure there are many reasons for hiding ownership but chief among them must be financial. If you can't prove ownership then it can't be seized in the event of financial difficulty. Banks, who authorise the loans on these assets, must hold the information because you have to state what you will need the loan for or maybe that's only for the poor. If the loan is unpaid then the bank has ownership rights, I would presume, until the load is repaid in full. If the owner is a company there must be a way to discover when the company was incorporated in relation to the loan being approved, there has to be a way to trace ownership.

It limits their liability to the value of the yacht only. There was no criminal case merely a civil case in Ft. Lauderdale where one crew member claimed rape by another crew member and the jury awarded her the value of the yacht. Obviously the owner of the yacht had zero to with the rape, he was not anywhere near near the yacht at the time of the alleged assault.
