Yaba is looking great! A guard around the spinning prop shaft is definitely required. This thing is dangerous. Is the engine raw water cooled? If so you can think about a (Bowman) heat exchanger. Not very expensive and it will prolong the life of your engine immensely.

Just watched latest video, everything looks great. I might be mistaken but please check belts on engine before starting, didn't notice a drive belt on raw water pump

I swear MP might be the cutest human ever, and I'm totally invested in poor Ben's exhaustion trying to get Yabá on the water.

I sincerely hope decisions like this through-hull drilling method, which is understandably rushed considering the circumstances, doesn't create huge heartaches later.

Ideally the water filter would be secured above the waterline – it’s safer that way because you’re less reliant on the seal from preventing serious water ingress into the boat and you can open it even with the through hull open. Looks like your thinking of installing it well below the water line?

Hey Ben, progressing well mate. I think you should go visit a tractor/ farm shop over there and see if you can get a PTO shaft cover, it would fit over the drive shaft and add protection from anyone falling in that area as I expect at some stage you will be working around the motor at sea. That covers are a type of plastic, lightweight and strong as and they are a sleeve arrangement so you can cut it to suit the length you want. I think it would be a great solution, I use them on all my PTO driven machinery on the farm as they are mandatory here in Australia. I’m really loving these daily posts, it’s amazing how much work gets done that isn’t posted in your weekly update. Well done guys
