Hi Andy, John here from Australia. You have under-seat storage the same as our caravan and I'm at a loss as to why you didn't drill finger holes in the top covers to make access easier. Also my partner Mary suggested a pair of sliding doors in the upright of the seat front. (It avoids having to remove cushions to access your under-seat storage). Having a great time following you along.

There's nothing to say about using stainless screws with hexagon or torx heads, but please don't use cross heads. They will wear off very quickly while mounting and many will crack on dismounting. Stainless is just to brittle and these screws are useable only once. And still in visible areas slotted screws are the way to go. If bronze is used, they may last a lot longer than stainless ones. Brass on the opposite is just good enough for use with clothing hooks on the wall. There should be no problem with using slotted screws at existing holes and if properly drilled also on new holes. Stainless is not the solution, you'll find out…
Sealing the bolts from below is not the solution. All the water will collect in the fibreglass. The bolts may hold the hull and deck together, they are usually bolted together while the polyester resin hardens. Using the electric drill if you're not able to hold it right in line with the screw is the worst idea. And using a cheap one is even worse as they don't start softly but with all the torque they have. Or better said the switch/electronic doesn't allow for a controlled start. Also bad for cross head screws as the bit easily jumps as well. Use torx…
