Bugger about the engine, plenty of previous advice given but as one person already pointed out start at the filter, other than what has already been suggested any possibility of water in the fuel?

I noted your comment about your seamanship, mate it must be hard having your every decision scrutinised by a panel of youtube viewers, I doubt I could do any better than you guys.

Sad about your teenage heartbreak, if its any consolation my first love dumped me for another fella.

You’ve probably found the cause of your engine trouble... if not, could it be bacterial growth in your diesel fuel ?
Anyway, hope you get it sorted out soon

That is a nice looking fish to catch. The sailing shots over the calm seas were so tranquil. Girls can be so mean. She is probably wishing she had a nice guy like you right now. Oh no for the engine. It sounds like a fuel issue, maybe dirt in the system, a clogged filter, but it could also be electrical with the bum alternator not charging. Ten years ago the alternator went on my truck when I was driving on the highway. I shut off everything that was non essential and was able to limp to a garage with the engine sputtering and coughing ready to die. By now I'm sure you have gotten to the bottom of it and will let us know what it was. Have another cup of tea. Tea is like a warm hug inside.

The engine sounds good so I'm assuming its a fuel issue, (my real guess is your brother is trying to create some drama for the clickz haha) one of my fav yt channels and a very underrated channel in the sailing community is 'how to sail oceans', Kevin sails all over the place including a recent atlantic circuit in a 30 foot long keeler all without an engine, it really makes you question your reliance on and use of an engine, not relying on an engine makes you a far better seaman. When ever i go to start the engine i ask, what would Kevin do? He does have a sculling oar, so he is not completely hopeless in no wind.
