Nice review on selecting anchor rode and the need for a line attachment below decks. And if you do need to slip the anchor, as you mentioned, be sure to attach a float of some type so you can retrieve it later. But do not attach the float to the chain, rather tie a piece of line 150% longer than the water depth, and tie the float to it. Otherwise, the weight of the chain will submerge the float.
