Can’t one use a flare gun for defense… I’d have several on board. I actually have a metal flare gun from Germany that can take shotgun shells. Also what about spear guns. I personally wouldn’t take a fire arm because in most countries it’s illegal and means jail time but they will take your boat too.

Make a small pressure tank with gasoline which you can pump on a good pressure with a hose and a release gun on the end. It works as a flame thrower. Easy to build from truck parts.

Something I've never understood is why someone who is white upper-class set off in a $1million boat and goes to somewhere where there is almost no law and order where people live on $1 a day and expect not to run into trouble, if your rich go where he rich live, just because these places have nice scenery and clear waters doesn't mean they are nice places, it's the inhabitants who make places nice,

dont go there. there are plenty of beautiful places to sail.
i was there and felt not welcomed. rude people allover. i may by unlucky one but after sailing there in 2008 i never went back. no regrets. condolences to family and friends.
