Via Amex Travel, I recently booked a last minute MSC cruise on the Seashore leaving Port Canaveral this coming Sunday, July 7 (our first MSC cruise). I booked the YC Deluxe Suite for about $3200/pp. No problem there. Several days later, I received an offer to upgrade to the Royal Suite for $3750/pp (so an additional $550/pp). I placed my bid. Several days later, my bid was accepted. Here’s the problem—it’s actually an additional $3750/pp on top of the $3200/pp I already paid, not the difference between the two fares. So now I’ve paid over $12,000 for a week’s cruise. I’m beside myself at this. The email was so misleading as it no where indicated it was in addition to. If it had been a clear, well written email I never would have bid. Who pays that much for a cruise—not us.

I called and emailed MSC. They’ve ignored me. I called my travel agent at Amex Travel,. What agent learned from talking with MSC is that they wrongfully sold my information to a third-party company to solicit upgrade bids from customers. MSC admitted that no one was allowed to change the reservation except Amex Travel, but they changed it anyway. MSC refused to transfer him to a supervisor. MSC refuses to refund the additional fare. I just want my original booking at the original price.
