I love my 1986 pilot house 37 Tayana, some people trash them because of tanks, chain plates, bla bla, it's a brick shit house will sail over and threw many popular boats of the day, ask Kantor builder, encapsulated keel, Yanmar diesel. It is like having A ugly wife, piss off she is mine. Mad respect, Bob Perry,,,, is in the cruising HOF. Yes she does back up like a Drunken sailor, but I take out dock's,, boats and Hardley a scratch, i say oh shit and sail away. OK just kidding, love my boat single-handed sailing with autopilot, biggest decision is what's for dinner. Everywhere I go, people say what a pretty boat. Great review over 500 built, you can see them all over the world, peace out. Crabby Capt….

Owned a green pilothouse one for 35 yrs….nothing like it…hull #158 purchased new inVancouver BC in 1979. Sailed many many miles and the outside teak was always gleaming. Re-rigged with sloop, roller furling, aluminum mast…Pacific coast higher mast. So comfortable for cruising, storage items etc. Perkins 4-108. Loved the teak inside and outside workmanship. Cruised with 60# CQR and chain…so yes, problematic weight with fuel forward….offset with lots of batteries in stern.

There's a gorgeous Tayana here in Titusville FL for sale for a great price, which would be even better if i wasn't broke. I've come up with projects to get done so I don't go buy it.

New to this channel, And loving it so far….. I bought a Tayana 37 About 18 months ago…..She was definitely bought as project yacht for me to " restore" then sell on….However the more i sail her in heavy weather, the more i work on her, the more i live on her, the more i want to finish the tidy up and head back offshore again, The more i love her as a strong safe offshore yacht…… I repowered her with a brand new 30hp Yanmar and shes now 400kg lighter and sails sooooo well, In light airs she sails like any other more modern yacht, and when the winds pick up to 20 knots or more…..thats when the fun begins and she can keep going all day…My young son loves sailing her and helping me restore her to her former glory…. and he even now gives me places we can sail too in the future…. Maybe that adventure sail to Raro this season will happen…… Looking forward to some amazing trips in the new future…Fair Winds all Tayana owners

Their health as they were in their 60s declined plus they had become heavy drinkers and that may have had an impact, Been there done that, might also kicked in?
