Pull the chain out in a 5 m S- shape paint the left blue and the right yellow and add progressively more red on the last 15m.

To be honest, you could see all the paint marks, they just needed a refresh and then you wouldn't have to add more plastic waste to the ocean

I mark at water level as you did, but my first marker after that at a further 10 metres (as I would never use less than that) in yellow,then at 15 I use a mix of yellow and green. Then green at 20, green and blue at 25 and blue at 30 and so on with 2 more colours up to 50 metres which is the deepest I have needed.
