Yeah making meals before passage is something we have also learned the hard way. It doesn't take much in the way of wave action to make it very challenging to cook. What a paradise though I totally understand the attachment to the place 🙂

Your French Polynesia series was so beautiful and heartfelt.. Thank you for sharing your love and connection to the area. No need to be sad, as you can return many, many times and perhaps make it a forever home one day. I would though look further in to the nuclear radiation from 30 years (193 tests) of nuclear testing by the French. While my aunt and uncle were cruising there during the 70’s and 80’s they couldn’t eat the fish, and the reefs were dead. Does nuclear fall out ever go away? The New York Times has an article today “Olympic Surfing Comes To Poisoned Paradise”.
