There is an old saying; "If you want something to float, the first thing you need to do is to start compromising". I really enjoy how you are reasoning – and look forward to Ran 3.0… and 4.0! 🙂

  • @earlsnapp5209

I really appreciated the walk-thru and design features. Thanks

  • @michaeldelaney7271

Thanks for the review of the design. It looks like a clever layout to me.

  • @jonathancarter124

You may want to use thin wood and/or cardboard to mockup your layout and confirm the design.

  • @richardpalma6791

You did a great job explaining your thoughts about the boat design As a landlubber I found this video very interesting 😎

  • @capnfrankly

Refrigerator / freezer ! Are these going to be under the seating or in the galley ? are the freezer and fridge separated and will their motor be separate into the utility room for access or repair ? And how large will they be. Are top access freezers better as one does not lose the cold air when searching for items or a front access for the fridge. Love your channel and have followed for years since the beginning….can't wait for the Saturdays ! ❤

  • @smaarch1

Good video. Can you show us the deck house – maybe a sectional view?
Boats are personal related to experience.
My personal preference would be to lower the deck house and reduce windage but I don't know the impact this would have and expect it to be major in your design. Always good to see your videos and precise thinking and skill

  • @pj7484

Is your boat going to be a hybrid with the ability to have electric propulsion as well, as diesel?

  • @roxyknight4909

Great thought in the design. Not sinking is definitely a priority, water tight bulkheads are great safety idea.

  • @user-bc7gc5wr3n

Appreciate your time and explanation Hi to Vera and the misses

  • @sthtemp2

Great esplainer. Thx. All makes sense.

  • @mp6756

It's a very thoughtful layout. Having the ability to edit the smallest of detail and design choice makes one thing clear. You will never own another production boat. This was a great walk through video thanks

  • @mrvertigo23

Great Episode – I'm very interested about how the interior will work out. You explanations about the whys make absolute sense.

  • @niccat7051

I get the utility room design, a boat is similar to an apartment, there's never enough room to store tools and stuff!!

  • @tonybodlovic5825

You're going to want your feet towards the bow, in the V-berth. You want your head closest to the centre of mass.

  • @petehitch5456

Will the mast come thru the overhead and hit the keel or does it bolt to the top of the deck?

  • @claudehopper9813

Great walk thru , it going to be a most excellent performance cruising boat .

  • @davidbamford4721

I really like the keel design of RAN 3. There have been too many narrow blade keels which have parted from the hull, principally in the Southern Ocean (I live in southern Australia).

  • @davidbamford4721

Please include Australian waters in your plans. We have some magnificent scenery to please you.

  • @ElleKendra

Very excited to see the interior being built soon.

  • @robertlee8042

Far be it from me to second-guess you but I did live on the sailboat for six months. It was a it was a production boat. Beneteau 46 sloop. I never owned a boat before and I have not owned the boat since but but when you were talking about making it thin so and the and the shape so that it wouldn’t heel over a lot. There are a whole lot of Hydro dynamic things that you can say about different shapes and what not but that’s not where I wanna go. Where I wanna go is that you’re going to spend 90% of your time at anchor, on a mooring ball, or in a marina Tied up in a slip. And in that 90% of your time you’re going to spend the overwhelming percentage, below, where all the limit-heel compromises will be. The only thing I know about sailing is that experience in which I did Chesapeake to the Caribbean Islands and Bermuda and back again. My boat was fast and agile. I spent a lot of time in the Trades. 200 mile days are rare unless you have no destination in mind. Or you are surfing in a fast following sea with a tide. I am awestruck by what you’re doing. You are SOOOOO right about consolidating the mechanicals and electrical and separating them from the living space. I’d even try to make refrigerators like that. I’m 77 now. I’m in good shape but I don’t think I’d have as much fun scrunching under and around stuff to get to a fitting or some pump or whatever.

  • @craigkepchar2619

It looks like you are ready to have your dream boat, all that is left is to get the work done. That should only take a few months. LOL It's going to be great to see you bring it all into fruition.

  • @CaptainG-xs3yo

    One of your best videos.
I like how you described the trade offs between different designs.
    👍🌎⛵

  • @WayOfHaQodesh

She's gonna be a beauty, already is. YAH Most High bless you all and keep you. Would love to see this vessel sailing in the beautiful waters of Sweden, my dear homeland. Thank you for all your videos. They're truly very inspiring to building my own boat one day, time will tell.

  • @jong.5508

Wonderful video and such a great walk-through of your design. Terrific choices! Safety first is so wise. Looks like an even better Garcia! Love it and love your channel. Thank you!

  • @rnbspowa7of69

Will you be able to make the table/couch into a bed?

  • @simonhantler8062

Veras got a big bed for a kid, maybe pipe berth or fixings for a make up bunk above her bed for when she has mates over for sleepovers. OR another vera one day ????

  • @jerrycooke6511

I'm a bit worried about your design. The forefoot or area in front of the keel is flat. I delivered a Tayana 52 or 54 up to San Diego from Puerto Vallarta 20 years ago almost exactly. I did a lot of deliveries on this route. The Tayana even in 2 foot seas always felt like it was bashing into rocks. Impossible to sleep and 10 days of it was enough. It was really disconcerting. Deliveries was a way to stay alive in the summer in Mexico but since that boat I never offered to deliver another boat with that design. Before it is too late there must be a way to bolt on a v shaped forekeel. The whole boat shudders as it pancakes. Its awful. I bring this up to help. I've been rather hazy with long Covid or probably would have mentioned it before…go rent a Tayana or another modern fin keel with that flat area and go upwind. I really like your abilities and the glimpses you give of Sweden. I'm half Swedish on my Mom's side. I met up with a Swedish boat in Tahiti about 10 years ago and helped fix their mast. Been friends since. Looking forward to all the systems going in.
I don't think alleviating this problem will take much, maybe a sub keel epoxied on adding a shallow v. I'm quite curious about this. What design choices are possible? I do rank that delivery as the worst one as miserable without sleep. I have delivered a lot of boats. Others had concerns popping up but they were fixable.

  • @robertlaw3124

Very envious, tremendous effort and build. Bob from Australia

  • @alleycat5472

Great Vid. Just missed a little more info on the engine room (maybe not fully thought out yet) or maybe a separate vid. Thanks for sharinng 🙂

  • @RoyClare

Great to have the update, thank you! Been with you in your virtual crew since your very first episode. Exciting times ahead. In a future episode please say something about the rudder design. I can’t recollect your philosophy – but I’m guessing single, balanced rudder, skeg-hung? Go well! 😊🎉

  • @andymarshall2201

Great update guys, excellent design and update. I love yours and Duracell Project channels. Always look forward to Fridays.

  • @Erilto

Will you use the space in the center above the keel to store the batteries? How to keep the keelbolds still accessable?

  • @user-cg2wy8gr4i

Patagonia? Now that sounds like an adventure and because I enjoyed your Canadian fiords I look for to seeing you undertake this journey!!!!

  • @ericd7975

    Great update
Thank you for such a great project

  • @iainphilip8818

Apart from the exciting boat build I would like to congratulate (you both) on the excellent English and relaxed spoken delivery. Rather complicated matters are made clear and easy to understand.

  • @johanswede8200

Sometimes we need to know where we are heading. ❤from another Johan.
