You can whine all you like about the NO WAKE ZONE – but the guy who was disabled should have deployed his anchor – he did have one, right?; then he should have put out his fenders once it was clear that hitting the bridge was a possibility. He is responsible for his boat, not some other person.

I don't know jack about boats,,but it do know that after watching how fierce that inlet can be, i would never attempt it with just one engine.

Agreed on slowing down but sc captain should have at the very least dropped the anchor to attempt to stop or slow his vessel down.

Dropping anchor is absolutely NOT always the first thing to do. That's an excellent way to sink a boat. Right time for anchoring but not always the 1st thing. Reading the water and considering situation. Why is it that people do not wear life vests. I fish out of Alaska and ALL my passengers WILL wear vests.
