I just had to stop at 1:25 hearing how quickly the fire caught, possibly lithium batteries the cause! Electric vehicles catching fire too! Firemen report water and foam do not contain it, scares me greatly! Seems heavy duty chemicals will need to be involved to stop lithium batteries burning! What will it take and be? Extinguishers newly designed and created-foam for commercial use and fireman??? Further WHY SUCH A PISS POOR DESIGN FLAW and LIFETAKING???? Somebody is gettin paid off somewhere-sketchy sht going on!!! Maddening

Lithium ion batteries should be banned in my opinion. The three elements needed for a fire are fuel, air and ignition. The only thing that has that is a hand grenade. There is no rhyme or reason for them to ignite. I did read in the comments about overcharging and that lithium batteries do not just ignite. They can ignite for no reason. All it takes is an internal short for them to ignite. I would liken a lithium battery to sailing along with a bucket of petrol and lit candle perched above it, and once it’s started you will not put it out even if you 20 fire extinguishers. I recommend that you have the batteries placed on top of 20mm steel plate and fire blankets close by. You are not going to save the ship, you can only try to extend your time to abandon the ship.

Luxary boats worth millions! Solar batteries should have hot or cold sensors (on homes installation with solar panels & batteries supposed to require…) switching disengagement if it occurs! (HOT OR COLD) I'm no professional but why is it supposed to be the causes of fires? On those super yachts??? What's missing for the security for people on board?

Battery fires aren’t like fire fighting like regular or material fires. Water or chemicals used to put out material won’t work on batteries unless the power from the batteries can be turned off. Batteries once shorted out will continue to get hot and continue to burn anything their heat comes into contact with. The heat generated from a shorted out battery or batteries is amazing. – picture an electric heater as an example and how the coils that you can see glowing red this is similar to a shorted out battery or batteries being shorting out they produce glow red on some heaters from basic being shorted. In the case with an electric heater though once the power – switch to it is shut off – the heater quits glowing red and cools off. On the other hand batteries continue to get hot and burn everything that their cables or the batteries themselves are in contact with. Shorted out batteries if they are the cause of a fire aren’t effected by standard fire fighting chemicals or even water until the batteries eventually run out of the power they hold inside that feeds the fires from cables that connect them to electrical outlets- generators they might be connected to.

I am 78 years old and I have a brain tumor from agent orange trying to explain how batteries if they might be the cause of a fire can work but I don’t
think clearly like I once was able to. I am sorry if I didn’t make sense or if I seem confused because I am confused trying to do the best I can.
