According to the smoke from Lady Moura's stack , the Venus bow was into the wind already and Lady Moura's stern swung around for the impact , that's what I see , unless of course the Venus was anchored from the stern and her bow swung into a 50kt wind to make contact with Lady Mouse , I don't know , what do you think

Hi. I don't comment often. So please don't block me! 🙂 I am learning to sail my boat, and use channels like this, and many others to learn how not to do things! or at least recognize when things are about to go sideways and have time to prepare.
The very term, super yacht, turns my stomach. They are nothing more than visible testaments to greed and selfishness.
Lady Maura was slow in. starting her engines, they should have had one on immediate standby so they could cope with this.
With the firework incident it sounds like the Captain fell on his sword. There's no way he went off & did that by himself. It would have been requested by the charter guests & its highly unlikely that he even was the one to place them & set them off. It would have been some lackey crew member. I'm sure he was more than compensated for taking the fall!
So basically the charterers paid the captain to take full responsibility.

As a former super yacht Cpt you know full well there are numerous massive fire work displays from super yachts at Anchor off Monaco, Ville France etc etc. Its std practice for the rich and famous at the end of their charter to ostentatiously show their wealth and celebrate . I bet you yourself have been involved in such displays . You`re 100% right tho.. incendiaries other than distress rockets, flares and smokes should not be carried o/b.
The crew of the larger yacht that was hit saw what was coming and had plenty of time to alert the crew to deploy fenders to minimize hull damage, paint, etc etc. From every video that I have seen it looked like just a lot of people standing on decks watching it unfold……………..

If they had time to stand there and film and watch it, why didn't they put down a fender?
One question: On a commercial vessel at anchor – should the bridge always be manned an the radar operating?
Why does Greece criminalize accidents? Are they not capable of managing their land and suppressing fires? Is this just a way to fine / penalize the mega rich? I always look at both sides of the coin.

Also, it is not smart to carry fuel on boats. Or food. Food can go stale on a boat. And fuel can catch on fire. Get a bunch of african slaves and make them row. They can eat off of each other, Hannibal-style. The crew and passengers can eat the slaves or have them fish some seacows or a sealion when they are not rowing. 👌😉
