I live in Rhode Island and this mansion there is amazing you like your 5 or 6 of them. They are amazing The Breakers are haunted by the ghost of the Husband and wife. I piece of advice if you go on the Cliff Walk be safe, it can be tricky.

Aaaah The Breakers. Your opening picture I knew in a heartbeat. I'm not gilded but lived in Newport for a year then 6 years in a Victorian in Portsmouth. Aquidneck Island as it is known differs from the mainland by being magical!

Excellent and informative video. The photo at 1:08 is Narragansett, RI and not Newport. The photo at 3:22 is the ballroom of Whitehall (Flagler) in Palm Beach.

The death of the Gilded age was by the bankers the start of the war and the income tax was a way to suck the wealth from the families. No place to hide the money from them. When one looks at the barons and their death they left their estate to their wives but in almost all cases they did not have the education to deal with all that responsibility so they were lured into being fleeced by others until many went broke. and ended up alone.
