PS.I Will never use a Stainless Steel,Anchor or chain, for very good Reasons. A very Sring Stainless Steel Swivel, is easy to check Regularly with a Magnifying glass, but Crack Detecting Fluid under UV Light is much better at finding problems.It is a real issue as the micro cracking has led to at least one stainless steel Anchor breaking in half. I will stick with a Gslvanised Oversized Lewmar Delta Thanks, and if I can’t get one, a genuine CQR.

The excellent Anchor that I seriously misjudged due to being over Suspicious of its Hinge is the CQR Anchor. Michael of Sailing Gently Channel absolutely Swears by CQR, having relied on one Completely for his Circumnavigation, and I think there was only one place that he didn’t Anchor Out . Me, I am a total Convert to the Genuine Lewmar Delta Anchor but at about 50% oversized, and with all Chain and all but the Swivel triple Galvanised. Mine performed beyond all expectations during a really Violent Tornado Storm in the Harbour of Refugee in Rhode Island, and what really impressed me was how it failed just at the right time to save the boat from Capsizing and me from ending up in the Harbour.the first Tornado was so fierce, it hit the boat on the Starboard side, pushing it so hard to Port, that the Aerial on top of the Mast was buried deep in the water on the Port side, as the water rose up the Port side Deck and was getting just to the lip of the Cockpit, and there was a loud Bang, the boat shot upright, and there was anchor alarm started screaming, so I started the engine, checked behind for a gap in the line of boats, and flew the anchor between them into clear water behind, put the gearbox into neutral , let the Anchor and chain settle, then in reverse gently backwards until it set, then full throttle, and it held solid, and spent the rest of the night wedged in the Cockpit watching the Purple Lightning Show. Got hit by about a half dozen more Tornadoes, none as bad as the first one, and the boat didn’t budge. Guess what the Main Anchor is going to be on my next Sailboat ? Yep an oversized Genuine Lewmar Delta. Teulu Tribe Channel started off with a really nice Oversized Lewmar Delta, which held Teulu well in winds over 50 knots while at Anchor, and they changed it for one of the very expensive Super Duper Anchors, and guess what ? It dragged in a 35 knot Wind.

the premise of rock climbing, is 3 99% anchors are always better than 1 100% anchor, bc stresses are spread and humans are over-confident

Yes, Rochna and others are great, but they have known failure modes that you need to watch out for (roll bar fouling and not resetting in all-to-common wind shifts). The ultra solves this problem and a few others. If you anchor a lot and going to blow extra money on anything for your boat, I suggest it be the anchor and anchor shackle. Peaceful nights rest can be priceless.

Ultra is by far the best. Rockna and Mantus are chinese now. Anchor in a volcanic island and it will be a rusty immediately. The ultra reset is hilariously good. Ultra would be better if the entire anchor was duplex. Anchors to me are like bike locks in NY. How much is never dragging worth to you and how much is your boat worth
