Great, thanks for the video, epic scenery 🙂
Entertaining as always.
Thank you.
your in crinan basin!? can we come have a look please? 😊✊🏻🏴
Making great progress!!
Right up my street this one, I watch a lot of narrowboat vids, love our inland waterways. Your vid was cool and some! Many thanks x
When you fast forward and the camera on you i was waiting on the " Benny Hill " tune , my generation i suppose !! The title doesn't do you justice and should read , Not a bumbling sailor anymore, I was chuffed watching this and hoping once my little boat is renovated ill be more relaxed and ready to tackle the Crinan in future. Glad you're enjoying the help and company along the way.
Cheers bud.
So sorry about David, remember that video well.
yes, as you say, but why the click bate title?
Have you been down the East of Scotland yet?
Views are climbing, you deserve so many more best of luck lad!
I came through solo on Tuesday with a similar setup, works well. I cheated and hired Crinan pilot Peter Trott to take lines ashore and operate the locks. Was through in 6 hrs, highly recommend him.
I also always feel so rushed. Docking at about 0.01 kph and still feeling like I need to sprint to the front for the lines 😀
Good rope system in the locks. You can take things a little easy for a wile Looking forward to the next leg
I’m obviously not following close enough. Thought you were at Caley canal ….. actually saw you arrive at Ardrishaig. Are the videos out of order a bit….
Hey dude, Okay so admittedly I watched or commented on your channel in a long time, But what can I say,;
You're looking SO much better! Looks like chasing your dream has brought you joy and happiness and it really shows in the way you look and how you hold yourself.
Also your speaking is much more clear and fluid, You''ve obviously learned a lot of the sailing lingo and gained a bunch of confidence!
Production and editing are wicked too, Love the multiple camera angles in this one.
It's like I'm looking at a completely different person, I am looking at a different person, You're a new man and it really comes through.
Thanks for showing us that it's possible. You're an inspiration.
Noooo! Dave is gone! I have watched that video so many times. I love his style and hoped to meet him one day. Rest in peace Dave. Another good man down.
Nice set up for locks.. was thinking of something similar but via mid ships to one cleat for the Euro locks.
Sad to hear about David, was a great video you made together. Hope all is well.
I am so impressed! Locks make me nervous, everyone is different, and you do not know what the situation will be until your in there.
I had to go through the shut-off-dyke in Stevensweerd Netherlands, with 4 other sailboats, then a motorboat but the walls were taken so they had to go in the middle, and then the lockchief insisted that a barge had to fit in there as well (it was very busy) so everyone had to flip fenders, push off each other and try and not get damaged or damage someone else, it was a tense hour of running and shouting, throwing lines, keeping watch pfff. and then when the doors open that barge can leave first with his 3 engine output. o.0
And i still feel like i know nothing, its 100% keeping a keen eye, be prepared as best you can and stay focused! You hit a wall before you know it, or your engine fails etc..
PS: the part that you apologize for and leave timemarks for us to skip it, that was actually the best content! Don't put yourself down so much, youre doing great and were here with you!
Long live Fin.
Thanks for this, great memories. Beautiful area. I know this canal and area very well as I grew up in Ardrishaig and Lochgilphead though I moved to Glasgow in my early 20's. We did take a boat from the Crinan end to Ardrishaig in the one day but that was a lot of work, though as you see, there are a good number of manned locks. How did you cope with the dreaded west coast midges? I used to do a lot of fishing and that was an ordeal at times…much worse when there's light rain/drizzle.
I have been through Crinan many times. Fully crewed and short handed, but never solo. If there is only two on board, wait for an over crewed boat to join you if you can. This makes for an easier passage. It is a great day of fun passing through the canal and very picturesque.
fantastic content specilly for all us newcomers, keep them coming.
Lovely clear video thanks Terry very interesting and different scenery -what no seals or dolphins !! -😂😂😂thank you Malc uk 🇬🇧 😊
