It was predicted that JLC would momentarily appear to be back in the lead in the sense that his is the closest boat to the Cape of Good Hope. But actually the quickest route is more towards Brazil due to the anticlockwise flow in the South Atlantic and a more favourable westerly crossing of the doldrums, and that puts a different complexion on his position. JLC will either have to converge with the main fleet and rejoin their route hundreds of miles behind, or attempt a more direct route in which case he will lose the wind and end up in a less favourable easterly position to cross the doldrums, also ending up hundreds of miles behind. The best he can hope for is light wind for the main fleet either in the next day or two (unlikely, it should fill in today) or around Brazil later in the week – the forecast is a long way off to foresee exactly what will happen then. I would love to see him play a blinder, but I don't see it at the moment.

I would like to see much more of this type of more nuanced analysis ideally with simulations of what might happen with different courses.

I knew it, that high pressure system is traveling south with the fleet and le cam is in charge now.

Im new to watching ocean sailing could someone explain how wind currents can have such big holes when the wind all around them is going the same direction like at the moment in between the main fleet and Brazil. All wind is south east but there's a big patch of nothing
