Because it was laid down as The King's Ship, when he died the ship should have been sunk, as the royal yacht of George V was sunk in The Solent. This is why it was unlucky, I believe. They are descendants of Vikings, after all.

Sweet fact, The Late King Constantine of Greece 🇬🇷 in a documentary I watched had a framed watercolor that King ( then The Prince of Wales) Charles did while on his and Dianas honeymoon while they were sailing around the Greek Isles. The watercolor was very good to be honest. 😊 🎨🖌🖼
Britannia had been decommissioned in 1997, and premenntioned edict from the Queen of having no honeymoons on the ship The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were married in 1999, so they couldn't have had their honeymoon aboard anyway.

Depending on whom the order to not wear their sailor's caps, they might not be out of order. Seeing they were traveling with the Head of State and Admiral of the Fleet, I'd imagine the men were permitted or requested to not wear them.

Amazing video. We don't get a lot of behind the scenes look at Brittania very often. I'm also very proud to be living in a neighbourhood with the same name, Brittania, here in Mississauga, Canada.

Sadly, Britannia has not been replaced since she was retired and is not likely to get a replacement anytime soon. Two years ago, plans for a new royal yacht were cancelled because the British government wanted to cut down on spending…
