You must have studied the French canal system when planning to head south, I assume you have a height restriction problem. I'm a bit confused by that because some of those large commercial barges that use the system look taller than "Lady Lisalot", Can you comment please? From your past videos, your experiences of being on the open sea in your "Lady" hasn't been all that good. Even if you hug the coast, you'll be in exposed waters most of the time. Wish I could be with you though, sounds like a dream trip. Happy sailing…

Henk-Jan take your time heading to the med. Southern Brittany and the islands heading to La Rochelle have plenty of sunshine and are beautiful. We sailed out of La Rochelle for 2 years and the weather was fantastic. We will watch from @trawleryachtnell

Henk Hi, Good news, if you come to Portugal it will be a pleasure to meet you and help you cruising the Douro River (starts in Spain, joins the Atlantic at Oporto), you can't miss it, 216 navigable kms (from Oporto to the boarder with Spain) and 80 kms are world heritage classified by Unesco! Maybe I can join you with my boat for a few days!

What an adventure planned as you know I am coming the opposite way on @AwanuiNZ and during the winter! You will love it there are so many great places to stop and like you I have on most occasions only been going during daylight. I think by the time you head south I will be in the UK which is a shame as I would love to have caught up with you. Oh to not be limited by Shengen time!

Op maps marineplan kan je een leuke route uitstippelen, om de middellandse zee te bereiken kan je via limburg, belgie, frankrijk varen. Duurt wat langer, maar zo vermijd je de zee en misschien een stuk gezelliger. 1808 km, 280h, 16 min, 9 bruggen, 265 sluizen. Afijn, nog de beste wensen henk-jan (hoop dat deze reactie wel blijft staan, de andere verdwenen steeds).
