Thanks Ian, this was another excellent video. I have the Panasonic Lumix 20mm 1.7 almost permanently on my OM 5. As you mentioned, it's the way we see the world.

I have a Pentax MX since I can remember, and being a very small film camera I used the 40mm pancake a lot. A very small combo in a time almost every SLR was big. It is a nice focal length and still use the lens on my Pentax K1 markII, but it looks a bit funny on the big camera

Always enjoy your videos and always impressed by your stamina on some of these walks. As an octogenarian I'm afraid those days are in my past. A fun day of shooting with only one lens. Once again giving us the message of not letting the equipment get in the way of your photography.
Just an observation, and it may only be me, but I prefer viewing your images with a black border rather than the white you've been using lately. I find it takes away from the image. Also, I do miss seeing your settings on each image. And get that van finished.

Ciao, hai fatto vedere nel video luoghi davvero meravigliosi e magici! (Ma anche qui in Italia abbiamo luoghi meravigliosi) Per me la focale di 40 mm è bellissima e la adoro già da diversi anni. Sulla EOS 5D Mk1 che avevo fino ad alcuni anni fa, pur avendo il Canon EF 50 mm F 1.8 STM, dopo che ho comprato il Canon (pancake) EF 40 mm F2.8 STM e l'ho provato, non l'ho più tolto, perché mi ha sempre soddisfatto nelle fotografie di tutti i generi: dal paesaggio, al reportage, alla street. Il 40 mm è una focale giusta: non è troppo largo come un 28 mm e non è troppo stretto come un 50 mm, ed è anche vicino al 35 mm, altra bellissima focale che adoro. Non ho più la 5D Mk1, ma il 40 mm ce l'ho ancora e ogni tanto lo metto sulla EOS M, che seppure per il fattore di crop di 1,6x di Canon diventa un 64 mm ed è una focale abbastanza strana, anche se devo dire che in certi contesti mi è tornata utile. Adesso sulla EOS 7D che è APS-C, ho comprato e tengo sempre montato il suo gemello: il Canon (pancake) EF-S 24 mm F2.8 STM, che per il fattore di crop diventa un 38,4 mm, quindi molto vicino a 40mm. Inutile dire che lo adoro e vado in giro sempre e solo con quello. Ciao!

I love the 40mm FL. Been using a Voigtlander 40mm 2.8 Heliar that's glued to my M10 for a good while now and really enjoy it's size and FL.

Great video Ian, i will pin the ribbon on the earlier photograph. The deciding feature was the light on the tree.
A question about using a manual focus lens on a Fuji, does it retain the focus peaking features?

Very nice video, one of your best. Great, awesome Locations, interesting nice Challenge with a stunning lens and a bunch of great shots. For the Image question at the end, i prefer the first, older shot. The Sky adds more Drama and leaving the Mountains in the shadows gives them some mystery. The Images i love most from this video are the first of the two boat images at 13:15. A simple but well compost image with great light. Than the image in the Mountains with the building on the left at 6:28 and the inner building picture at 6:10. The Last one is very nice captured and processed and the image at 6:28 let the eye flow into the Location and landscape. The whole mountain mine location looked so impressive. So, thanks again for 18' of a well made and presented video, i really enjoyed it.
