What does the AIS track for Grey Wolf show? Was it moving, at what speed etc. Both vessels travelling at cruising speed toward each other would close on each other very quickly. Was the ship restricted on its course through the Dardanelles Strait, it is quite narrow. Would there be an expectation or requirement for the ship or 12 metre vessel to take avoiding action?

It seems odd that large ships are required to dodge small vessels.

When the crew (or captain) becomes a martyr and says "Is it illegal to do X, Y or Z?" then you will know that they most certainly did something illegal. They're just trying to hide it.

I don't care if the crew of this cargo ship was having 100 prostitutes on board. They still can't leave the helm unattended.

It's just crazy for anybody yacht or ship , to be buzzing through there with the helm unattended. Very tight water, and lots of traffic…

When we sailed to the UK on the Windsor Castle 'before the rinderpest' in '71 as we say here, on the bridge we were told that large ships must give way to smaller, so even fishing boats that we saw on radar off the west African coast, were avoided by this huge liner….but then someone was watching the radar…!!!!

what was the yacht capt doing i bet it was on auto pilot and he fell asleep the ship is big i dont know how he did not see it
