  1. Interesting boat, nice to see something new. The carbon makes it very stiff and silent but is a nightmare to repair after a collision. And that hardtop for a lot of solar panels is overkill and in addition ugly.

  2. Nice design. Like the hard dodger/hardtop, think more cruising boats should be built this way, or builders should offer the option. An open cockpit is fine for an afternoon’s sail around the harbor; not so great for long passages or living aboard.

  3. I would be concerned having a head at the bow- that plumbing is going to be pitching much more compared to if it was further back. Maybe it's not too much of an issue in a 60+ foot boat. I am also concerned about such an open layout on rough seas, you may go flying. Similarly, the kitchen doesn't have anything to help you stabalize laterally in a pitching boat. I would like to hear from someone who has made a couple passages in this boat.

  4. I do like an Ice Yacht, Thalassa 2 being a particular favourite. But they are a little too performance orientated for my personal needs. Even their catamaran concepts are very racy. The move to making something like this, is a smart one. I hope her owners have a ball sailing her around the seas and oceans. She's a lovely thing.

  5. Toby: I bin watchin' you fo' 'a few years' and you have reviewed some Really Nice Boats… This one seems a step above most of them. How about a great video series: " A History of Boat Development" over the last 'two or three' decades… a three or four parter with specific boats 'n features ?? Only suggesting because this damn boat is so Sci-fi.

  6. It's a very nice boat but with that full hardtop I have to say it looks a bit ugly… I know it's exceptionally practical to have such a large hardtop for shielding from the elements and mounting a huge amount of solar but aesthetically speaking it's not a good design.
PS: After being doubly blown away by the mechanical room and navigation room, I have to say to hell with aesthetics, I want this boat!

  7. It's a bit overcustomized. The "nav room" is a joke. On a 64ft yacht having such a huge space boarded off… WHY? How much time modern cruisers spend doing their charts? Yet, a huge percentage of space is lost there. No third bathroom, some "emergency toilet" instead. Finding a skipper who would agree to travel like that (especially with no shower) would be problematic. I understand the desire to show off as "experienced sea wolves" but in this particular case, I think they'd be better off just listening to boat builders and their experience. I also think an Oyster 675 would be both better AND cheaper AND faster.

  8. 2:11 No windage there lol.

When I saw the title I thought this would be about a REAL explorer yacht, for high latitudes and actual exploring and passage making. Turns out it's just another luxury McYacht for cockpit cocktails while stern-to in a Med marina.

  9. As a complete noob about sailing, or boats in general. This boat has a certain practical, let’s get this done vibe about it.
There is an utter dependence on the electrical system, and I hope someone on board is a contortionist to fit in that engine room. Would have put a couple of hatches in from the twin room.
There is a tendency to squeeze every possible cabin possible in most builds, the berth/ workbench/ laundry cabin is definitely a step in another direction.

  10. Would be nice to have a preventer system and also have the rudder stalk in watertight compartment separate from all electronics and other equipment.
