One small tip: MSC will not send you a Bid Up email if you book a solo studio cabin. So… if you are looking to have the opportunity to bid up you will need to book a normal interior or balcony cabin

The challenge I have with bidding for upgrades is that the Cruiseline will allocate the stateroom/suite. You might end up in a better paid room but worse location (i.e below tbe sundeck) Also you should always check if the official balcony price is actually higher.. heard of people putting in a bid where the actual category they are bidding for is much cheaper in the official sale

I have bid off and on…won some, didn't win some. I am just happy to be on the ship and as long as my cabin is clean and comfortable, no complaints here. Curious to see how you like the Seashore. Was on her a few months ago and not impressed but I hear the Yacht Club is a whole different experience. Excellent job on the upgrade, especially with the included perks.

I had bid for a suite from a balcony on a smaller NCL ship. I checked the price before the final payment and the suite price was less then my bid. I canceled the bid and paid for the upgrade.

Question: how often would you say the upgraded rooms are in non-desirable locations? Such as obstructed views, loud staterooms, etc? Thanks. I’ve always worried about this issue

I'm such a cheap bastard that I want the cheapest cabin on the ship so long as the room is quiet and minimal sea motion. No upgrades for me. I'll put that upgrade money toward my next cruise. Another factor is that I sail solo and refuse to pay for a two person bid when it's only me sailing.
